Ikea style data center build in Sweden

Facebook is pioneering a new way to provision data centers in a “rapid deployment data center” (RDDC) concept. It seems like a hybrid approach mixing the traditional data center construction with a modular / componentized approach. Many structural elements are prefabricated to standard dimensions and assembled onsite. The foundation is a 12’ x 40’ chassis onto which additional components are attached. It’s a neat concept to get data centers more efficient to build, operate, and maintain.
